Construction of a timber-framed extension to incorporate a Planetarium, retail space, new toilet facilities and public entrance. The project also included the installation of a Biomass boiler and an extension to the solar panel and battery storage capacity. The site is located near Loch Doon in Ayrshire and is accessed by a forestry type road. A narrow bridge with a 10-tonne weight restriction added to the complexity of working at this site which also has no mains power or water services.

The Planetarium Dome was designed by Kelsen and fabricated in our workshop from CNC machined plywood ribs for later suspension on site and application of curved surface finishes.

The extension is finished in Scottish Larch to match the original building cladding.
